The prize pool of The International 2019 surpassed the $25,000,000 mark
Ihor MatusIn 53 days and 18 hours, the developers of Dota 2 collected $23,083,595 with the help of crowdfunding. TI8 managed to collect $19,121,458 in the same time, TI7 — $19,664,055, TI6 — $17,147,695, and TI5 — $14,478,223.
At the moment, 54 days and 12 hours have passed since the release of the Battle Pass and the prize pool of The International 2019 has already surpassed $25,431,449. The biggest boost was in the last four days. During this time, users enriched TI9’s pool on $6,000,000, which is an absolute record in the Dota 2 history.
Some kind of a bug has recently appeared in the Battle Pass, which allowed users to purchase 120 levels of the Battle Pass twice. Part of the audience thinks that the developers Dota 2 intentionally made such “a mistake” to collect more money and Gabe Newell announced that he had refused the idea of removing this bug, which strengthens the players’ theory.
The International 2019 will take place in Shanghai, China on August 15-25. The overall prize pool now amounts $25,431,449+. In 54 days, Valve managed to collect 99,6% of what they had done in 110 days the previous year. 18 teams will take part in the competition, 12 of which have already been determined on the outcome of the tournaments of the Dota Pro Circuit season 2018/2019.
