Esports news Alliance
In brief:
Alliance is a famous European multi-gaming, The organization includes rosters in League of Legends, StarCraft II, Hearthstone, but the organization is mostly known thanks to the Dota 2 roster. Let us take a look at the history of the Dota 2 subdivision.
First Appearance
The first mention about the organization happened in April 2013, however, it actually happened a bit early. Loda had an idea of creating their own team including only Swedish players in 2012, after his failed performance at The International 2012 as a member of Team Zenith.
At that moment, there appeared the team No Tidehunter that was then represented by s4, AdmiralBulldog, EternalEnvy, Black^, and kizzles. Later Loda himself joined No Tidehunter together with another Dota veteran – Akke. In April 2013, Loda made his old dream come true and created a team with five Swedish gamers. The first roster of Alliance included:
- Loda
- s4
- AdmiralBulldog
- Akke
- EGM
Those gamers were destined to become the strongest team in the world.
Down From a Mall, Straight to the Ball, or Alliance’s Era
The first challenge for the roster was their performance at DreamHack Invitational 2013. There the team showed their full force and yielded the championship. Later the Swedish players won The Premier League Season 4 and WePlay Dota2 League Season 1. Then there was a mediocre performance at the Demon Edge Cup where the club took 5-8 place. However, it was possible for the team to rehabilitate in the same month at G-1 Champions League Season 5.
In June, the team took first place at DreamHack Summer 2013, after that, one month later, the esportsmen won StarLadder StarSeries Season 6. In the same month, Alliance won The Premier League Season 5. There was another challenge for the club – The International 2013.
From the very beginning of the tournament, Alliance announced that they treated the championship with all due seriousness. The Swedish tournament did not leave any chance to the opponents in the group and ended it up with 14-0. At the playoff, the Swedish domination did not stop. Loda’s team beat LGD with the score of 2-0, DK with the score of 2-1, and NaVi with 2-0.
In the grand final, Alliance again met with Natus Vincere. The grand finale of TI2013 is still remembered as the most epic battle in Dota. Then the tense game finished with a victory for Alliance with the score of 3-2, providing themselves with a slot in Aegis of Champions.
After TI3, the team continued playing in a way that the gamers had already got used to. At first, it bore some fruit and Loda’s team went on winning prize places. After the end of TI3 and before the start of TI4, Alliance won Fragbite Masters, Dota 2 Champions League Season, DreamHack Bucharest 2014, and DreamLeague Season 1. Before The International 2014, the team took third place at Dota 2 Champions League Season 3 and 3-4 place at ESL One Frankfurt 2014.
In July 2014, it was time The International 2014 kicked off. Alliance were approaching the tournament as champions of the previous year, that’s why the pressure was high. Perhaps, it was one of the key reasons why Alliance failed their performance at The International 4 getting placed in 11-12 position. It was impossible for the former winners to recover after the failure.
In September 2014, s4 and EGM left Alliance giving a start to the period of constant reshuffles which lasted more than a year.
Whirlpool of Reshuffles
When s4 and EGM left the roster, Alliance started to have problems. The team tried to replace the former players so they tried lots of options. In January 2015, Pajkatt and Mynuts joined the roster and EGM came back to the organization. However, AdmiralBulldog moved to inactive. Later, Mynuts’ place was taken by Niqua.
In March 2015, 7ckngMad joined the team, and in April, Niqua, who had just joined the team, left the organization. The changes led to the situation when Alliance did not visit The International in 2015 and continued looking for optimal players for the roster.
In December 2015, the strongest representatives decided to gather together and to try their chances in the next season.
Loda, Akke, EGM, s4, and AdmiralBulldog again gathered together, and this time was the last.
This old-new roster played for Alliance for less than a year. At first, the veterans showed great results: the team took first place at World Cyber Arena 2015 and won StarLadder I-League StarSeries Season 1. However, this was the end of their bold victories and at The International 2016, the team took 9-12 place and after that s4, AdmiralBulldog, and Akke left the team. Later those spots were taken by Handsken, Limmp, and jonasoomfan.
Those results were still far from the previous achievements. In December 2016, Alliance took first place at WePlay Invitational #6, after that the gamers tried to make it to the top for the whole year. The roster was unable to participate in The International #7 as the team again was going through some changes.
Only Loda stayed in the active roster when the young gamers, MiCKe, Boxi, INsania, and Taiga joined the team. In this roster, Alliance played only several months, and after that Loda’s position was taken by qojqva, and Loda became the coach of the team.
New Beginning
The new roster took part in all possible championships but they could not succeed. The team won Tier-3 tournaments but failed major championships. This was what happened at The Kuala Lumpur where the team took 9-12 place and at Chongqing Major in 2019 which brough 13-16 place to the team. The breakthrough happened at EPICENTER Major 2019, where Alliance showed confident gaming and took 5-6 place for the first time in a long time. It let the team come back to The International, however, at the tournament the young gamers got 13-16 place.
In September, the roster left Alliance and their positions were taken by Nikobaby, Limmp, 33, Handsken, and Fata. These gamers helped Alliance to win DreamLeague Season 12, take third place at ESL One Hamburg 2019, and later 7-8 place at MDL Chengdu Major.
In January 2020, Alliance took fourth place at DreamLeague Season 13, after that finished at second place at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3.
In March 2020, 33 and Fata left the organization, and in April s4 returned to Alliance as a captain. Later fng joined the team and became an official member of Alliance in September 2020.
Organization and Awards
Alliance’s coach is a co-founder of the organization, Loda. The captain slot was taken by s4, and Inverno represents the organization as its manager. Alliance cooperated with Razer, Monster Energy, and Twitch.
In the whole period of existence, the Dota 2 roster have earned over 4,800,000 dollars for the organization.
