StarLadder i-League Invitational is the third tournament in Invitational StarLadder series. This time, the champion will take place not in the biggest city of the world Shanghai, China but in Kiev, Ukraine. As StarLadder organization is located here, it’s likely that it will be easier to them to organize the event here, but not in another country.

In brief:

2014

On 27 August, Team Secret announced their Dota 2 roster. It was represented by such players as KuroKy, s4, Fly (known as Simbaaa then), Puppey and n0tail (known as BigDaddy then). At the moment of esportsmen joining the European organization, they had continuing contracts with the former clubs. Later Team Secret signed their players and followed the formal part. In 2014, году Secret had good results. They got a victory at XMG Captains Draft 2.0, getting $96,860 as a money prize, and also became champions at Dota Pit League Season 2 and owners of the main prize of $36,269. Despite the apparent success of the collective, two players from the team decided to stop performing for Team Secret, and in the end on 16 December Fly left for MeePwn’d, and on 1 January n0tail joined Cloud9.

2015

Fly’s and n0tail’s places were taken by Arteezy and zai. Together with them, Puppey managed to take the third place at Dota 2 Asia Championship 2015 and got a money prize of $275,177 for himself and teammates. At such events as The Summit 3, MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Spring and ESL One Frankfurt 2015, they also succeeded. The first places that they took resulted in money rewards of $115,466, $108,817 и $118,481, respectively. The last tournament for this roster of Team Secret was The International 2015, where Team Secret won the 7-8 place. This achievement brought Secret a reward of $829,333. This result was unacceptable for all members of the collective, so the representatives of Secret decided to leave the tea,. Soon after the end of The International №5 all of them left the collective except Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov. They were replaced by such players as MiSeRy, w33, pieliedie and EternaLEnVy. The roster became fruitful in a short period of time. In September the players qualified to WCA 2015 in Europe. The first place that was taken by them resulted in $5,000 as a money prize for them. A bit later Team Secret took the second place at ESL One New York 2015. In October the collective took the first place at MLG World Finals. Their win brought the team a money prize of $113,982. At the first tournament of the Major series Team Secret performed pretty well but it was not enough for the win. The departed several months ago n0tail and Fly showed everybody that the decision was right and being players of OG, they defeated Secret at the final of The Frankfurt Major 2015.

2016

Nevertheless, Team Secret didn’t lose courage and kept on training and at the next Major tournament, that was held in Shanghai, the Europeans showed their superiority on the Dota 2 arena. This championship is firstly remembered for being the most technically unstable tournament with bad organization and irresponsible organizers. As for Team Secret, The Shanghai Major 2016 was more pleasant than for the other participants of the tournament. Soon after the end of the Shanghai Major tournament, w33 and MiSeRy left for Digital Chaos, where they took the second place at the next The International. Their positions were taken by Arteezy and UNiVeRsE, and the position of coach was occupied by 1437. This roster helped Team Secret not only to make it to the second season of StarLadder i-League StarSeries, taking the second place there, but also to get places at 13-16 place at The International 2016, leaving the competition being one of the first. In June, Team Secret was joined by Aui_2000 and BuLba, who were substituting the players. After the end of The International 6, all the roster except Puppey and pieliedie was dismissed. Several months later, Secret completed the roster taking MP, MidOne and KheZu onboard. SInce that moment the collective has been having difficult times.

2017

At The Kiev Major 2017, Team Secret’s performance was doomed to failure. They lost the match against the clearest outsider of the tournament, the Brazilian team SG e-sports. One week later the Swedish support, Johan ‘pieliedie’ Astrom left the team and later got replaced by Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat. At the seventh tournament of the The International Team Secret series, they performed unsuccessfully again taking the 9-12 position. After the end of The International 2017, MP and KheZu also left the team. The first moved to Team Pheonix, and the second one joined MidOrFeed. Later their places were taken by Ace and FATA-, that made Secret come back to the good level. At На ESL One Hamburg 2017, the Europeans almost managed to achieve success, but lost at the final. Taking the second place there, Team Secret got $200,000 as a money reward. 2017 ended perfectly for the Europeans. They took the first places at the Major tournament, Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds, and also got a victory at the last Major championship in 2017, DreamLeague Season 8. Their efforts resulted in a money prize of $500,000 for the Europeans.

2018

2018 started with the loss of the status of a Major tournament for Galaxy Battles II: Emerging Worlds, and many teams of the high level decided to refuse to participate in this championship. Team Secret also didn’t participate in it. At the first event where Secret were taking part into the team was to get triumph and a money prize of $108,000. Several months later Puppey with the team got a win at the ninth season of DreamLeague, and the reward that was being expected by the winners was $125,000. At all the further tournaments, Secret didn’t take the highest positions and their results disappoint the fans of the European tag, but, nevertheless, the players earned enough Dota Pro Circuit points to get an invitation to The International 2018. There the Europeans gained 5-6 place and got a money prize of $1,148,948. A month later, Ace and FATA- left the team to join Ninjas in Pyjamas, and their positions were taken by Nisha and zai. This roster helped Team Secret to qualify to The Kuala Lumpur Major 2018, and to win the a relatively little tournament, PVP Esports Championship. There their hard work resulted in $80,000 for Puppey and his team. Later Team Secret took part in The Kuala Lumpur Major 2018, where they took the second place and $170,000, and also 3,000 Dota Pro Circuit points. After that the Europeans took the first place at the regional closed qualifier to the next Major tournament.

2019

The start of 2019 was definitely pretty successful for Team Secret. At The Chongqing Major 2019, the Europeans managed to gain an outright victory and got $350,000 as a money reward. Along with the money, the players became the second to get the trip to The International 2019, thanks to the earned Dota Pro Circuit points (4,950).

At the moment Team Secret are seen among the most successful Dota 2 teams in the world and according to the majority of spectators, they are the best Dota 2 roster.
