Esports news NiP
In brief:
Ninjas in Pyjamas is one of the oldest and most known multigaming organizations in Europe. The club was founded before the esports flourishing, in 1999 and since then it has gone through closing down, reopening and rebranding. Ninjas in Pyjamas rosters play in different popular disciplines including Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and others.
Now we offer you to take a look at the history of the Dota 2 subdivision.
First Appearance
NiP never hurried to enter the professional Dota 2 stage. So the first roster of the well-known organization appeared in the MOBA by Valve only in 2015. Then NiP took on a team called LAJONS that consisted of:
· Era
· Apemother
· jonassomfan
· Handsken
· Sealkid
The first results were pretty satisfactory, however, at those times the European Dota 2 was going through a bad patch.
First Results and First Disband
As it has already been mentioned, at first NiP’s results were pretty good after the roster was signed. At the debut tournament, the team took 7th-8th place, later that month the roster got placed third at StarLadder StarSeries Season 11, and after that the players won Alienware Area 51 Dota 2 Cup.
Even though the series of tournaments was successful, NiP decided to make corrections in the roster. Instead of Apemother, Ninjas in Pyjamas got Limmp as a player. This roster became the winners of Esportal Dota 2 League Invitational Tournament 3, and also took third place at Major All Stars Dota 2 Tournament.
NiP showed stable gaming all the following year. In April, the team became third at joinDOTA MLG Pro League Season 1, May brought them third-fourth place at ASUS Play It Cool Dota 2 Invitational and fourth place at Dota 2 Champions League Season 5.
The summer in 2015 was pretty fruitful for NiP. The team won joinDOTA MLG Pro League Season 2 and Esports SM 2015 in June. In the same month Ninjas finished third at DreamLeague Season 3. In July, the team took fourth place at Dota Pit League Season 3.
In September, NiP finished 3rd-4th place at Alienware Summer’s End Cup, and also the players took third place at World Cyber Arena 2015 – European Pro Qualifiers.
However, when October came, their results worsened. The team took 5th-8th place at Dota 2 Champions League Season 6, 8th at DreamLeague Season 4, and 5th-12th at The Defense Season 5.
Those performances did not satisfy the management of the club, so they resorted to radical measures. In November 2015, NiP announced disbanding of the Dota 2 subdivision and quitting the professional Dota. They returned only one year later.
NiP’s Second Attempt
The new roster was assembled at the beginning of 2017. Then it included:
· Era
· qojqva
· Trixi
· H4nn1
· syndereN
However, the situation did not change dramatically. NiP spent a year trying to find their game style, however, all the work was in vain. In that year, the roster’s best achievement was fourth place at OverPower Cup #1, and their only prizes was $1,000 which was gained by NiP at the showmatch of Betway Arena King of the Hill #4.
In June 2017, NiP again disbanded the Dota 2 roster.
Third Try
NiP decided to return to the esports stage in 2018. Then they signed the roster that was the champion of The International 2015 ppd. It included:
· Ace
· Fata
· 33
· Saksa
· ppd
That roster made NiP winners of GG.Bet Invitational Season 1, took 3rd-4th place at Maincast Autumn Brawl and 9th-10th place at ESL One Hamburg 2018.
In November, the NiP Dota-2 subdivision attended their first Major tournament. It was The Kuala Lumpur Major where the gamers managed to take fourth place. However, we should mark that then NiP had a substitute - the champion of The International 2017 MinD_ContRoL.
After 33 returned to the lineup, the results bounced back. At the end of 2018, NiP took 7th-8th place at the qualifiers for The Chongqing Major Europe Qualifier and second at The Bucharest Minor Europe Qualifier.
2019 started positively for the roster. In January the team took third-fourth place at WePlay! Dota 2 Winter Madness, and also fourth place at The Bucharest Minor. In February the players finished second at WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness and 5th-6th at ESL One Katowice 2019.
In March, NiP won WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Radiant, but later the players failed DreamLeague Season 11, getting beaten by EG and taking 9th-12th place.
NiP were able to rehabilitate at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 which they won in April 2019. Later the gamers took 5th-6th place at MDL Disneyland Paris Major.
In May 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas got placed 9th-10th at ESL One Birmingham 2019, and later in June the players won StarLadder imbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2.
At EPICENTER Major 2019, NiP got unfortunate to take 9th-12th place, however, it was fantastic in comparison with The International 2019.
At The International 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas became the second team that did not win any map and left the championship before the group stage. After that failure, the team faced new changes in the roster.
In September, the team welcomed Fata, and later Skiter, Gunnar, Universe and Biver also joined the team. At the end of the year, TANNER replaced Skiter and that roster got qualified for WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020.
2020 and New Sunset
At the minor in Bukovel, NiP took 7th-8th place which was followed by new changes. The team dismissed Gunnar and Biver, and their slots were taken by Daxak and Lelis.
The NiP roster played till April 2020. Then the team lost Universa and PPD. Then all the roster was disbanded and the organization signed a SoNNeikO team. The new roster was made up:
· Charlie
· Supream^
· SabeRLighT-
· Era
· SoNNeikO
This team represented NiP at several online tournaments. The most successful were WePlay! Pushka League S1: Division 1 where NiP took 5th-6th place and OGA Dota PIT Season 1: Europe/CIS where NiP also finished 5th-6th.
In July 2020, the team dismissed SoNNeikO who was holding the captain slot. He was replaced by Cr1t- for a short time. He helped NiP take 7th-8th place at OGA Dota PIT S2: Europe/CIS.
After that Cr1t-’s slot was taken by Misha. Later NiP took 11th-12th place at OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division and fourth at OMEGA League: Europe Divine DIvision.
In September, NiP took third place at BTS Pro Series Season 3: Europe/CIS, 9th-11th place at ESL One Germany 2020 and 3rd-4th place at DOTA Summit 13 Online: Europe & CIS.
NiP’s last tournament was the qualifying stage of EPIC League that gave the players 6th-7th place. In November 2020, NiP’s management announced disband of the European Dota 2 subdivision.
