The third quarterfinal match came to an end. In it, DWG KIA defeated MAD Lions without any problems. The first map was completed in 29 minutes, the second - in 35 minutes, and the third - in 39 minutes. All three maps ended in a victory for DWG KIA, which means that the Koreans defeated MAD Lions with a score of 3-0. The Bo5 fight turned out to be far from complete, as in the case of T1 and Hanwha Life Esports. Earlier, EDward Gaming defeated Royal Never Give Up with a score of 3-2 and also advanced to the semifinals.

In the next DWG standoff, KIA will be forced to take on T1. This fight will take place on October 30th. The last quarterfinal match will take place tomorrow at 12:00 UTC +0 (15:00 UTC +3).

At the quarterfinals stage, such teams as Royal Never Give Up, Hanwha Life Esports and MAD Lions have already left the competition. Tomorrow they will be joined by Gen.G Esports or Cloud9. Teams ranked 5th-8th in the standings will receive rewards of $ 100,125.

Recall that DWG KIA became the champions in the 2020 World Championship. The team beat Suning Gaming in the final and earned $ 556,250 with their victory, which was 25% of the total prize pool. If this year the team manages to win, then DWG KIA will become the second team that managed to defend the title of LoL World Champion. The first such team was T1, which stood in the way of DWG KIA in the semifinals. Faker and his teammates won the World Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Earlier, we talked about the motivation of T1's Faker in this championship. He gave an interview in which he shared his experiences about his personal growth. If you missed this material, then we invite you to read it.
