
Vitality confidently defeat G2 to advance to the IEM Chengdu 2025 playoffs
Vitality secured a convincing 2:0 victory over G2 (13:4, 13:11) in the decisive match of IEM Chengdu 2025, booking their spot in the playoffs. The standout performer was ZywOo, who delivered a phenomenal showing with the AWP and finished the series with a 1.57 rating.
Train (13:4 Vitality)
The match began on G2’s map pick. G2 started strong on the T side and took an early 4-round lead. However, Vitality quickly took control in the fourth round, winning eight consecutive rounds. In the second half, G2 couldn’t mount a comeback and fell 4:13.
Mirage (13:11 Vitality)
Mirage was a much closer contest. The first half was neck and neck, with both teams trading rounds and finishing 6:6. On the T side, Vitality pulled ahead 11:6 and seemed to be cruising toward victory, but G2’s aggressive offense brought the score back to 11:11. Still, Vitality held their ground and closed out the map 13:11, denying G2 a chance at a decider.
Match MVP
The MVP of the match was Vitality’s sniper, ZywOo. Thanks to his sharp aim and aggressive playstyle, he became the key factor in his team’s success. His stats: ADR – 101.2, Swing +5.46%, and a 1.57 rating.
Following this victory, Vitality advance to the tournament playoffs. G2 end their IEM Chengdu run in 7th–8th place, earning $7,000 for the team and $40,000 for the organization. IEM Chengdu takes place from November 3–9 with a total prize pool of $1,000,000 — $300,000 distributed among teams and another $700,000 allocated to the organizations.
