BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022 group stage recap

Add as a Preferred Source

The group stage of BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022 has ended. None of the teams left the championship, remaining in the fight for six tickets to BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022. Nevertheless, the past three days have given us enough reason to think, the topic of which we want to raise in the next article. We note in advance that in addition to the intriguing lower bracket speedruns from the participants, the championship showed that many favorites have not yet managed to wake up.

Group A

In the most equal group, the team OG turned out to be weaker than the rest, which failed to cope with Vitality (11:16) and Astralis (11:16), taking its well-deserved last place. The Swedish team Ninjas in Pajamas also failed, which, after the starting victory over Astralis (16:10), first lost to Vitality (12:16), and then allowed the Danes to take revenge (9:16).

Surprisingly, after two wins over OG (16:11) and Ninjas in Pajamas (16:12), Vitality couldn't win the quartet. Well, the winner of group A was the Astralis team, which, after losing to Ninjas in Pajamas (10:16), made a quick run through the lower bracket and outplayed Vitality in the grand final (19:17).

Group B

The outsider of the next quartet was the G2 Esports team, which already in the first hours lost to Team Liquid (12:16) and NaVi (14:16), depriving itself of the chance to move higher. Next, the North American team Complexity resigned, which started with a sensation in the championship, outplaying NAVI (16:9). However, the team then lost to Team Liquid (14:16) and NAVI (3:16), thus failing to build on their fleeting success.

Team Liquid reached the group final very confidently, having outplayed G2 Esports (16:12) and Complexity (16:14). However, in the grand final of the quartet, the North American team was defeated by NAVI (4:16). In turn, the "Born to Win" made a "classic" lower bracket speedrun, returning to the race after the starting loss from Complexity (9:16). As a result, NAVI got a crushing victory in the final over Team Liquid (16:4), and at the same time became the best team of the quartet.

Group C

At the bottom of the next quartet, there was no intrigue, as the North American team Evil Geniuses quickly lost to FaZe Clan (8:16) and BIG (6:16), taking the last place. Team BIG remained in third place, which, despite the victory over Evil Geniuses (16:6), lost twice to Heroic on the Nuke map (13:16; 14:16).

It seemed that FaZe Clan would be able to break the script and achieve victory in group C through the upper bracket. At the same time, the team started with two confident victories over Evil Geniuses (16:8) and Heroic (16:10). However, in the final of the quartet, FaZe Clan lost to Heroic (10:16), thus allowing the Danes to continue the trend to the lower bracket.

  • The first pair of rivals will be OG and Complexity, the match will take place on August 25th at 14:00. The winner goes to the FaZe Clan team.
  • The second pair of opponents is G2 Esports and BIG, the match will take place on August 25th at 17:30. The winner gets to Team Vitality.
  • The third pair of rivals will be Evil Geniuses and Ninjas In Pajamas, the match will take place on August 25th at 21:00. The winner goes to Team Liquid.
