Results of the fifth game day of the Worlds 2020 group stage
On October 8, teams from group A played their final matches. The teams played three rounds, each fought against each other.
In the opening matches, G2 Esports beat Team Liquid, followed by Suning Gaming bypassing Machi eSports. The first match of the second round was the confrontation between G2 Esports and Machi eSports. The European team turned out to be stronger. Suning Gaming and Team Liquid played in the second match of the second round. Team Liquid managed to win back.
In the final round, Team Liquid defeated Machi eSports and expected the result of the meeting between G2 Esports and Suning Gaming. To the disappointment of Liquid, G2 lost, thereby depriving the North American team of any chance of passing further.
At the end of the day, Machi eSports and Team Liquid left the world championship. Machi eSports finished 13-16th, while Team Liquid finished 9-12th. G2 Esports advanced to the playoffs from second place, while Suning Gaming became the winners of Group A.
Groups from group B will join the battle today. The beginning, as always, is at 11:00 Moscow time.
