The second match of the day featured Gen.G taking on Top Esports. Both teams entered with a 2-1 record, and this series would determine who advances to the Knockout Stage and who will have to fight for survival in the next round. Let’s take a look at the drafts and a brief recap of the match.
Game 1 Picks:
- Gen.G: Rek'Sai, Vi, Taliyah, Lucian, Braum
- Top Esports: Sion, Xiz Zhao, Aurora, Corki, Neeko
Game 2 Picks:
- Gen.G: Ornn, Jarvan IV, Yone, Kai`Sa, Rakan
- Top Esports: Rumble, Pantheon, Azir Yunara, Leona
The first map was a complete stomp by Gen.G — Top Esports stood no chance. Gen.G were several steps ahead in every aspect of the game, both macro and micro. They controlled the entire map, rotated perfectly in time, and grouped up exactly when needed. The team operated like a well-oiled machine, clearly showing why they’re considered the best team in the world right now.
The second map also went entirely under Gen.G’s control. Top Esports tried to fight back and make use of every bit of space they could find, but in teamfights, Gen.G’s coordination and mechanics were simply on another level. A dominant 2-0 victory for Gen.G.
With this win, Gen.G advance to the Knockout Stage with a 3-1 record. Top Esports, now sitting at 2-2, find themselves in a dangerous position and will soon have to fight for their tournament survival in the next round.
Reminder: The second week of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage runs from October 22–25. Teams that secure three wins advance to the Knockout Stage, while those with three losses are eliminated. Elimination and advancement matches are played in a Best-of-Three format with the Fearless Draft system.
