T1 Defeat MKOI and Advance to the Knockout Stage at Worlds 2025

The closing match of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage featured MKOI vs T1. Naturally, T1 entered the series as the absolute favorites. If it were a Best-of-One, there might have been room for doubt — but in a Best-of-Three, almost no one believed MKOI could win. Let’s take a look at how the match unfolded.

Game 1 Picks:

  • MKOI: Mordekaiser Xin Zhao, Orianna, Corki, Rakan
  • T1: K`Sante, Qiyana, Azir, Varus, Alistar

Game 2 Picks:

  • MKOI: Ambessa, Trundle, Cassiopeia, Vayne, Braum
  • T1: Rek`Sai, Wukong, Ryze, Sivir, Leona

Game 3 Picks:

  • Top Esports: Mordekaiser, Qiyana, Smolder, Corki, Leona
  • Bilibili Gaming: Jax Wukong, Galio, Xayah, Rakan

The first game started off tense and not entirely in T1’s favor. MKOI opened strong and quickly began putting heavy pressure on T1’s bot lane. However, T1 bounced back in the mid game, winning through superior macro play. Their map and objective control were excellent, and it’s worth highlighting Faker, who performed brilliantly on Azir, creating multiple game-winning moments for his team.

The second map followed a similar pattern to the first. MKOI started well and had several strong moments and teamfights throughout the game. The issue, however, was their lack of follow-up — after good fights or a few kills, MKOI failed to capitalize on their advantages. T1, on the other hand, made the most out of every opportunity, securing objectives and steadily building their lead.

With this victory, T1 advance to the Knockout Stage with a 3-2 record. For the LEC representatives, their Worlds 2025 journey ends here.
