New details about upcoming Minor tournaments
Ihor MatusThe network has information about when the qualifying games for the Minor championships, dedicated to the ESL One Rio 2020, will be held.
European division
In Europe, the closed qualification will be held from March 7 to 8. The eight best participants will go in a minor. 16 teams will compete in the selections, half of which will receive direct invitations according to the world ranking, and the other half will break through preliminary open qualifications.
American division
Closed qualifications will be divided into two divisions: North America and South America. Matches for the North American division will be held from March 6 to 8. 16 teams will take part in them, half of which will become owners of invites according to the world rating, and the other half will go through preliminary open qualifiers. The top six will secure their stay in the American minor. Confrontations for teams from South America are held from March 3 to 5. Unlike the European and North American division, eight participants will compete in the South American selections. As you might guess, the distribution will also be 50/50. Half of the teams will receive direct invitations according to the world rating, and the other 4 teams will break through open channels. The same distribution system will be involved in all other closed qualifications for all minors. Two teams from South America will take part in the American Minor tournament.
CIS division
In the CIS region, closed qualifications will be held from March 5 to 6. The eight best participants will go in a minor.
Asian division
The entire Asian region was divided into four divisions: Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. In East Asia, matches will be held from March 4 to 6, in the Middle East from March 5 to 7, and in Oceania, China and Southeast Asia from March 7 to 8. In all divisions except Southeast Asia and the Middle East, two of the best participants will be selected, which will be held in the Asian minor.
All Minor Championships will be held from April 26 to May 2 in Rio de Janeiro. The total prize pool of each of the minors will be $ 50,000 and two invitations to ESL One Rio 2020, the first major of 2020. Teams that took 3 places on the minor will go to the 3rd Place Play-In, where two additional invites to the Major tournament will be played between the four participants.
ESL One Rio 2020 starts on May 11th and ends on the 24th. 24 teams will participate in the division of the prize fund of $ 1,000,000. The winner will take $ 500,000 with him.
