Invitation system for CS:GO Major tournaments was changed
Ihor MatusNow, direct invitees have been replaced by two additional tournaments that will be held, forming a list of participants in the next major. The new system will take effect after ESL One Rio 2020.
The updated system of receiving invites involves earning a certain number of points, which can be obtained both in two additional tournaments, and in the majors themselves. As a result, the standings will be compiled, the first eight of which will become the owner of the status "Legend". The following eight students will receive the privilege of starting the championship with the Challengers Stage. It will remain unchanged that the remaining 8 quotas of the Challengers Stage will be played on minor issues.
CS:GO developers told tournament operators that new rating championships should be held between July and September, and the number of participants in LAN competitions should be at least 8 teams. In total, at least 24 teams must take part in the tournament, including all preliminary stages, 16 of which will receive invitations to qualification according to the rating table formed after ESL One Rio 2020.
The first major of 2020 will be held from May 11 to 24 in Rio de Janeiro. It will be hosted by ESL and the event’s total prize pool will be $1,000,000.
