IEM Katowice Major 2019: Renegades made it to The New Champions Stage

Three maps have been played between the Australian and French teams: Dust2, Cache, and Inferno. Renegades dominated on the first one, having lost only 5 rounds to their opponents. Vitality prevailed with an effort on the second map and the battle was equal on de_inferno but Renegades defeated their opponents as a result.

An interesting fact: One of Team Vitality’s players has a birthday today. Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire is 26 years old today. If the French had won the Australians, it would have been a good birthday present for apEX.

Together with this victory, Renegades has become the third team to make it to the final stage of the Major tournament, The New Champions Stage. It’s worth to remind that the distribution of the Major part of the prize pool will be there, which amounts $1,000,000. A winner of the competition will earn the main money prize in the sum of $500,000. Astralis and Team Liquid have previously qualified to The New Champions Stage.

Five more matches will be hosted today and if you like CS:GO, you will not have to miss them.
