FURIA Pulls Off an Incredible Comeback Against Wildcard

With every round played, every victory becomes increasingly significant, and this match was no exception. The showdown between Wildcard and FURIA, a decisive game with a 2-1 scoreline, took place during the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Opening Stage.

The map pick fell to Vertigo, an unexpected choice for FURIA. In the first half, both teams traded rounds as if they were warming up, ending with a balanced 6:6 scoreline. However, the second half of Vertigo turned into an emotional rollercoaster. Wildcard, playing on the CT side, showcased an incredible performance and brought the score to 12:7. At that point, it seemed like victory was already in their grasp.

But the experienced FURIA lineup demonstrated remarkable resilience and composure. They started taking round after round, with Wildcard often falling short in critical clutch situations—though, in large part, FURIA simply outplayed their opponents with superior skill.

The game went into overtime, where FURIA managed to outlast their rivals and secure the win with a 16:14 scoreline. It was a heartbreaking loss for Wildcard, possibly due to their lack of experience on a major stage or the pressure from the crowd, which at times seemed to cheer FURIA to victory. Nevertheless, Wildcard put up an excellent fight. Against almost any other team, they might have added another win to their record.
