Rare Atom eliminate fnatic from Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024

This match was a crucial one for both teams, as the best-of-three series was an elimination game from the tournament. The teams entered this match under immense pressure, each with a negative record of 0 wins and 2 losses.

The first map of this thrilling BO3 series was Ancient, where Rare Atom started incredibly strong. They secured round after round, racing to an 8:1 lead. It seemed like the end of the road for fnatic, but they managed to regroup and put up a fight. After a series of lost rounds and a few tactical pauses, fnatic found their rhythm. From that point on, Rare Atom managed to win only two more rounds as their offense faltered completely. The first map ended with a 13:10 victory for fnatic.

The second map was Inferno, and the question loomed—could Rare Atom recover after the heartbreaking loss on the first map? Initially, it seemed unlikely as they fell behind 6:0 in the first half. However, what followed was completely unexpected—a mirror turnaround. After losing six consecutive rounds, Rare Atom responded with a streak of six rounds of their own, closing the first half at a competitive 6:6. In the second half, Rare Atom lost the first four rounds on the CT side but then figured out how to counter fnatic’s attack. They didn’t drop another round, closing out the map 13:10 in their favor.

This level of fight for elimination was exactly what fans hoped for. The third and deciding map was Vertigo, but this time, there was no drama. Rare Atom delivered a phenomenal performance, crushing fnatic 13:4 and securing their chance to continue competing at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. Unfortunately for fnatic, their journey ends here with a 0-3 record.
