The final match of Round 5 in the Opening Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 featured a thrilling clash between Wildcard and Passion UA. For both teams, this was their last opportunity to advance to the next stage of the tournament. It is worth noting that neither team had ever made it to the Elimination Stage at a Major before, so they brought their best gameplay to achieve this milestone.

The first map, Inferno, was chosen by Wildcard. From the start, they dominated the match, leaving little opportunity for Passion UA to respond. The first half concluded with a crushing score of 11-1 in Wildcard’s favor. While Passion UA improved in the second half, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide, and Wildcard secured the win with a 13-6 scoreline.

The second map was Mirage, selected by Passion UA. Needing a strong pick, they opted for a map that favored fast-paced entries and strategic positioning, particularly since they began on the terrorist side. Their choice paid off as they executed brilliant attacks, ultimately winning the map 13-6 to level the series at 1-1.

The decider map, Ancient, would determine which team would make their first-ever appearance in the Elimination Stage at a Major. This game turned into a spectacle, showcasing the best of both teams. Wildcard and Passion UA traded rounds back and forth, proving that both were worthy of advancing. The match extended into overtime, where Wildcard showed a slight edge, narrowly securing victory with a 16-13 score.
