The playoffs of the ESL Pro League Season 23 Finals began with a confident performance from Natus Vincere. The Ukrainian squad defeated The MongolZ 2–0 in the first quarterfinal of the tournament to become the first semifinalist of the event. NAVI managed to turn the tide on their own map pick Ancient, and then completely dominated Mirage, leaving the Mongolian team with no chance.

Map veto:

  1. Natus Vincere removed Overpass
  2. The MongolZ removed Anubis
  3. Natus Vincere picked Ancient
  4. The MongolZ picked Mirage
  5. Natus Vincere removed Nuke
  6. The MongolZ removed Inferno
  7. Dust2 was left over

The first quarterfinal match of ESL Pro League S23 started on Ancient. Although this map was picked by the Ukrainian team, The MongolZ managed to gain a slight advantage in the first half, leading 7–5 on the CT side. The situation changed once NAVI switched to defense, as they seized the momentum and closed Ancient with a 13–11 victory.

Mirage ended with a convincing 13–4 win for NAVI. From the very first rounds, the Born to Win squad fully controlled the game. The first half finished 10–2 in NAVI’s favor, and The MongolZ never managed to get back into the match, eventually losing 4–13.

Match MVP

The hero of the match was makazze, who delivered an outstanding performance across both maps. He finished the series with an ADR of 115.9 and a 1.87 rating.

NAVI become the first semifinalists of ESL Pro League S23, where they will face the winner of the matchup between MOUZ and FUT Esports. Meanwhile, The MongolZ finish their run in 5th–8th place, earning $15,000 for the team and an additional $33,000 for the organization.
