Astralis secured a hard-fought victory over FaZe Clan in a tense Stage 2 match at ESL Pro League Season 23. The Danish squad won the series 2–1, clinching the decisive Inferno map in overtime. With this victory, Astralis keep their playoff hopes alive, while FaZe are eliminated from the tournament.

The match started on Dust2, picked by FaZe. They began on the T side but failed to gain full control of the game. Astralis managed to win several key rounds and closed the first half with a narrow 7–5 lead. FaZe showed a stronger performance on the CT side, conceding only two rounds and securing Dust2 with a 13–7 score.

Ancient was completely controlled by Astralis. FaZe managed to win only three rounds on the CT side, while Astralis confidently closed the map 13–3 to tie the series 1–1.

The deciding Inferno went to overtime. In the first half, Astralis dominated on the CT side and finished it with a 9–3 lead. It seemed the second half would end quickly, but FaZe mirrored their opponent’s success and completed a comeback to reach map point. Astralis managed to win the final round of regulation to push the game into overtime, where the Danish side secured a 16–14 victory.

Match MVP

The best player of the match was Staehr, who finished the series with 91.1 ADR and a 1.39 rating.

Despite the intense battle on the final map, where FaZe had a chance to turn the series in their favor, they finish the tournament in 12–14th place, earning $10,500 for the team and $11,000 for the organization. Astralis will now play a decisive 2–2 match, where a victory would secure them a spot in the playoffs. ESL Pro League Season 23 Stage 2 runs from March 6 to March 10, where 16 teams compete for playoff spots. The remaining eight teams will share a prize pool of $185,000.
