HEROIC Defeat Passion UA and Qualify for Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024
The Norwegian team HEROIC secured a spot in the main stage of the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 by defeating the Ukrainian team Passion UA. Both teams entered the match with a 2-1 record in the group stage.
The teams played a full best-of-three series, showcasing their preparation by winning on each other's map picks. HEROIC chose Ancient, but Passion UA outperformed the Norwegians, winning the map 13-9.
The second map of the series was Vertigo, the pick of Passion UA. Despite some interesting strategies from the Ukrainian team, HEROIC played more aggressively and accurately, making impactful pushes on defense and securing critical kills that disrupted the opponent's plans. HEROIC claimed Vertigo, pushing the match to the decisive third map, Mirage.
The outcome of Mirage determined who would advance to the Shanghai Major 2024 and who would have to face another day of high-pressure matches with no room for mistakes, as the loser would be eliminated from the tournament.
Passion UA fought hard to resist the Norwegian squad, but HEROIC proved to be significantly stronger on this map. With relative ease, HEROIC claimed Mirage with a 13-7 scoreline, improving their group record to 3-1 and securing their ticket to the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024.
