Spirit Defeats Ninjas in Pyjamas to Qualify for the Shanghai Major

Spirit secured a decisive 2-0 victory over Ninjas in Pyjamas in the crucial match for the final European slot at the Shanghai Major. The match took place during the European RMR tournament, with Spirit dominating on Mirage (13:5) and Vertigo (13:11).

The Eastern European team finished the RMR group stage with a 4-2 record. Before defeating NiP, Spirit also secured a convincing 2-0 win against Sashi in the previous round, earning them the chance to fight for a Major spot.

Ninjas in Pyjamas Miss Another Major

For NiP, this marks the second Major in a row they have failed to qualify for. Despite being one of the most consistent teams historically, NiP has struggled to regain their form. The team holds an impressive record of 16 Major appearances, trailing only behind Fnatic and NAVI, but could not overcome the challenges of the RMR group stage.

The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 is the first-ever Major hosted in China by the tournament operator Perfect World. It also marks the second Major in the history of CS2. This prestigious competition will take place in Shanghai, with matches hosted at the World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center and the Oriental Sports Center.

Teams will compete for a substantial prize pool of $1,250,000 USD, making this event a significant milestone in the competitive CS2 scene.
