Team Spirit History
Since its inception, Team Spirit has actively participated in multiple esports disciplines, including Counter-Strike 2, Team Spirit Dota 2, and more. The organization gained international recognition through its Dota 2 roster, which famously won The International 2021, and continued to build momentum with success across other games.
In CS2, Team Spirit made headlines in 2024 by winning the PGL Major Copenhagen, a landmark achievement that cemented the team’s place among the world’s elite. Known for their tactical discipline, sharp individual skills, and strong roster development, Spirit has consistently challenged top-tier teams at major events such as IEM, BLAST Premier, and ESL Pro League.
Outside of competition, Team Spirit is also recognized for its dedication to esports culture, developing young talent, and building a loyal fan base. The organization produces high-quality content, actively engages with its audience, and maintains a professional yet community-driven image, helping it stand out in the modern esports ecosystem.
Team Spirit Founders
Team Spirit is an esports organization founded in 2015 by Nikita "Cheshir" Chukalin. Initially based in Moscow, the organization relocated its headquarters to Belgrade, Serbia, in 2022 due to the geopolitical situation following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
While Chukalin is the publicly known CEO and has played a key role in the organization’s development, the full ownership structure remains unclear. According to some reports, the domain name for Team Spirit’s Russian website, teamspirit.ru, is registered to Onmoon, a company co-founded by Dmitry Kuskov and Svyatoslav Lobanov. Onmoon is involved in software development and operates several gaming-related websites, including a major CS:GO skin marketplace. However, Chukalin has declined to disclose further details about the organization’s investors or ownership.
In summary, although Nikita Chukalin is the visible face and CEO of Team Spirit, the complete ownership and financial backing involve undisclosed parties, with Onmoon being a significant but not fully confirmed stakeholder.
Team Spirit Initial Roster
Team Spirit's journey in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) began in June 2016 when they signed the roster of Team Phenomenon. This initial lineup included:
- Pavlo "COLDYY1" Veklenko
- Dmitriy ”S0tF1k” Forostyanko
- Vadim "DavCost" Vasilyev
- Anton "kibaken" Kolesnikov
- Dmitriy "Dimaoneshot" Bandurka
In their early days, the team participated in smaller online tournaments and made their first major offline appearance at the Adrenaline Cyber League 2016, where they finished at the bottom. Despite this, they secured a spot in the Offline Qualifier for the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major by winning the CIS Minor. However, they were eliminated in the qualifier with a 0–3 record against Dignitas, MOUZ, and Envy.
Over time, the roster underwent several changes. Notably, in March 2019, Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov joined the team, and in September 2019, Boris "magixx" Vorobyev and Nikolay "mir" Bityukov replaced COLDY and S0tF1k, respectively. These adjustments marked the beginning of Team Spirit's rise in the CS:GO scene.
By the end of 2023, Team Spirit had established themselves as a top-tier team, with key players like chopper and magixx leading the charge. Their success was further bolstered by the inclusion of rising talents such as Danil "donk" Kryshkovets and Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotja, who were promoted from Spirit Academy.
In December 2023, the team made a significant addition by acquiring Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov from Cloud9, enhancing their roster's depth and skill set.
As of June 2025, Team Spirit's CS:GO roster consists of:
- Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov (Captain)
- Boris "magixx" Vorobyev
- Danil "donk" Kryshkovets
- Myroslav "zont1x" Plakhotja
- Dmitriy "sh1ro" Sokolov
- Sergey "hally" Shavaev (Coach)
This lineup has been instrumental in Team Spirit's recent successes, including their victory at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, where they defeated FaZe Clan 2–1 in the grand final.
