G2 Esports Defeat FlyQuest 2-1 and Advance to the Worlds 2025 Knockout Stage
The second match of the day for a Knockout Stage spot featured FlyQuest vs G2 Esports. It was an incredibly intense and exciting series, with both teams showing strong preparation and deep understanding of each other’s playstyles. Let’s take a look at how it all unfolded.
Game 1 Picks:
- FlyQuest: K`Sante, Wukong, Taliyah, Corki, Alistar
- G2 Esports: Rak`Sai, Maokai, Viktor, Caitlyn, Bard
Game 2 Picks:
- FlyQuest: Rumble, Xin Zhao, Annie, Lucian, Soraka
- G2 Esports: Galio, Trundle, Aurora, Xayah, Rakan
Game 3 Picks:
- FlyQuest: Renekton, Sejuani, Azir, Jhin, Nautilus
- G2 Esports: Jax, Doctor Mundo, Orianna, Varus, Rell
The first map was a perfect display of discipline from FlyQuest — a slow, mistake-free game where they capitalized on every opportunity. Every flash burned by G2 Esports earlier turned into a kill later on. A clean and well-played first game for FLY.
The second map, however, was completely under G2 Esports’ control. While the early game was quiet, G2 played with confidence and precision — as if they were a completely different team from Game 1. Their active and mobile composition suffocated FLY and left them with no room to breathe.
The third map was incredibly close, with gold graphs and momentum constantly swinging back and forth. Both teams were determined to impose their playstyle, leading to fights almost every minute. In the late game, FLY slowly started to build an advantage, even securing Baron and looking ready for every next move from G2. But then came Caps on Orianna — one perfect Shockwave ended all of FlyQuest’s hopes in this series.
After this magnificent victory, G2 Esports advance to the Knockout Stage with a 3-1 record after the Swiss Stage. FlyQuest, now at 2-2, will have to fight for survival tomorrow against other teams with the same scoreline.
Reminder: The second week of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage runs from October 22–25. Teams that secure three wins advance to the Knockout Stage, while those with three losses are eliminated. Elimination and advancement matches are played in a Best-of-Three format with the Fearless Draft system.
