New Owner of iG: Plans to Rebuild the Championship Roster

Invictus Gaming recently gained a new owner — a wealthy investor whose name has not yet been disclosed. He is a big fan of the team’s championship roster from 2018 and reportedly aims to recreate that legendary lineup as accurately as possible.

iG's 2018 Roster

This team became the first from China to win the World Championship title, defeating Fnatic 3:0 in the final of Worlds 2018. Here are the players who made up the roster at the time:

The new owner of iG wants to bring back the legendary 2018 LoL roster

According to reports, iG is negotiating the return of two key players from that roster: top laner Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok and mid laner Song "Rookie" Eui-jin. Both players were crucial to the team’s success at the 2018 World Championship. Additionally, rumors suggest that the Chinese player GALA might join the team, which could significantly strengthen the current roster.

It’s worth noting that Invictus Gaming has already started the process of bringing back its former stars. Sources claim the organization is attempting to recreate the original championship roster, including TheShy, Ning, Rookie, JackeyLove, and Baolan. However, the implementation of salary cap restrictions in the LPL for 2025 and potentially high buyout fees for certain players, such as JackeyLove—who is currently playing for Top Esports —could complicate this plan.
