Virtus.pro completed participation in IEM Cologne 2021
Ihor MatusThe first match in the IEM Cologne 2021 playoffs has come to an end. The beginning of the battle was not easy. On Overpass, Virtus.pro took only 5 rounds in the attack and after the transition showed an excellent play for the defense side, bringing the game to a draw. The teams had to resort to using additional rounds. In the overtime series, Virtus.pro showed poor results and took only one round there, while Overpass ended 19-16 in Astralis's favor.
On the second map, Dust 2, Virtus.pro also started on the attacking side. There VP took 6 rounds, and after switching to the defensive side, they surprised the Danish opponents with their teamwork and individual game form. As with the first map, the teams played in additional rounds on Dust 2, however, unlike Overpass, one overtime series was not enough to determine the winner of the meeting. This time VP was victorious with a score of 22-20.
Everything happened much faster on Inferno and Astralis did not let their CIS rivals take more than 8 cards.
As a result, Virtus.pro lost with a score of 1-2 and took 5-6 place in the championship. The team received a reward of $ 40,000 for their efforts. In the next fight, Gambit Esports will compete with FaZe Clan for the right to reach the semifinals, where the winner is already awaiting the NAVI team.
