G2 won VP to reach semi-finals at PGL Bucharest 2025
HeavyGod shines again as G2 takes down Virtus.pro 2-0 to set up a clash with red-hot Complexity.
G2’s form is peaking at just the right time. In one of their cleanest showings of the year, the international mix ran over Virtus.pro in two maps — Dust2 (13-11) and Mirage (13-9) — in the PGL Bucharest quarterfinals. They now move on to face Complexity on Saturday at 20:00, a team fresh off their own upset over Aurora.
Virtus.pro came into the series as a squad known for their structure and discipline, and Dust2, their pick, seemed a solid starting point. But G2’s T side carved them open with sharp pace and mid-round reads, leading to an 8-4 half. ICY’s pistol heroics gave VP hope in the second half, and they clawed back to 10-10, but Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko put a stop to it, locking down Long to close out the map 13-11.
Mirage looked even more one-sided. G2 again dominated on the T side, with Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa’s early Deagle double sparking an 8-2 run. Even with a few hiccups on the CT side, G2 were never in real danger and closed it out comfortably 13-9.

G2's post-NiKo era has been shaky, but HeavyGod is making a strong case to be the new franchise man. His consistency through Bucharest 1.22 average rating across the event is more than just good news, it’s G2’s lifeline. His lock-down moments on Long and confident rifling were crucial in both maps.
If this is indeed the last dance for the current G2 core, the Israeli rifler’s rise might be the one bright spot to carry into the next chapter.
FL4MUS fades under pressure
All eyes were on Timur “FL4MUS” Marev to bring some chaos to VP’s calculated game, but instead, he was silenced. The breakout star from Shanghai is visibly shackled in this system, and his Bucharest showing — a 0.87 rating, the worst of the year — shows the growing pains of adapting to a slower-paced team.
Virtus.pro’s structure isn’t suiting his style, and it’s starting to cost them in firepower-heavy matchups like this one.
G2 vs Complexity incoming
With Complexity riding high off their win over Aurora and G2 finally clicking as a unit, the upcoming semi-final promises fireworks. Both teams have something to prove: Complexity wants to show that their Cinderella run isn’t a fluke, and G2 needs a trophy to justify holding the core together.
Who’s got the edge? That’s Saturday’s question — but tonight, G2 looked sharp enough to believe.
G2 knocked out Virtus.pro 2-0 to reach the Bucharest semis! HeavyGod dominates again, and a showdown with red-hot Complexity now awaits.
