Half of the participants in basket D will advance to the next round and this is causing a lot of excitement among social media users and fans of high-quality CSGO. Who will join G2 Esports, Team Vitality, FaZe Clan, Heroic and other top teams guaranteed a place in the EPL Season 17 playoffs, what are the fans expecting from NaVi, Astralis, Liquid? All questions will be answered from March 15 to 19.
S1mple in Top 5: The NaVi legend is poised to make it to the top five in the EPL S17 tournament
ESL Pro League Season 17 kicked off on February 22 in Malta. In the space of almost a month the CS:GO tournament has managed to acquire its own heroes.
Before Group D kicks off, the names of the top five players are known. Perhaps another name will soon be added to that list - s1mple.
As s1mple prepares to face off against ZyWoo in absentia, a new intrigue is brewing online. Source 2 is once again making its presence felt.
Source 2 will appear before the start of the EPL S17 playoffs?
The main stage of Malta's ESL Pro League Season 19 kicks off on March 21. Looks like before that Valve have a surprise for all fans of the cult team shooter.
In the game's files, more specifically the DRP branch (developers pre-release) added a mention of Source 2. Usually it's done in the pre-release, so there is reason to believe that the COSC update will be released just before the playoffs ESL S19.
We've previously covered everything we know about the potential Source 2 release in this article. However, even in the event of a second Source release soon, ESL won't be rushing to run tournaments on the new version of the game until it's polished, as they mentioned in an interview with Dotesports.
Naturally, none of this cancels out the fact of a major Group D kaesa at ESL Pro League S17. Let's take a look back at the structure of the duels and how the teams make it to the playoffs.
How goes the longest tournament of the first quarter of the competitive season at CSGO
ESL Pro League S17 began on 22 February 2023 and will run until 26 March. The play-off portion of the tournament will take place between the 21st and 26th, but the main stage must be revealed before then.
There are 32 teams in the tournament, divided into 4 groups of 8 participants in each group. In each group 4 teams qualify for the main stage.
The teams in the groups start in the first round and play with a triple-elimination grid. The teams that lose in the first round first fall to the bottom of the table, after which the teams that have already lost there go to the basket of last hopes.
More details on the group stage format of EPL S17:
- Four nets with Triple-Elimination. All games are played in a bo3 format.
- Four teams make the play-offs.
- Winners of their groups go directly to the quarterfinals, runners-up go to the second round with top seeding, 3rd place goes to the first round with top seeding, and last place groups start in the first round of the play-offs with bottom seeding.
The EPL S17 play-offs will become less cluttered. There, 16 teams advance to the group stage, where they play in a single, single-elimination grid with bo3 matches.
Before Group D of the ESL Pro League S17 kicks off, the names of the 12 runners-up are already known: Cloud9, Outsiders, G2 Esports, Fnatic, Heroic, MOUZ, FURIA Esports, Movistar Riders, Team Vitality, Faze Clan, paiN Gaming and 00 Nation.
