The second semi-final match of ESL Pro League Season 16 has come to an end. G2 Esports tried to beat Team Vitality in this confrontation, but something went wrong for them.

The first map where the teams met was Mirage. There, G2 Esports started on the attacking side and, in principle, had a good series, taking 7 rounds in the first half. Vitality, having an advantage of 1 round after the transition, were able to complete what they started and gained the upper hand in the fight against their teammates, losing only 1 round in the second half. Mirage ended with a score of 16-8 and the teams went to Inferno to find out which of them would be stronger.

The answer to this question kept not only the participants of the meeting waiting, but also the spectators and commentators. The first half ended with a score of 10-5 in favor of G2 Esports. The latter were able to show the art of beautiful defense. Vitality did not remain in debt and also showed that they can defend the bomb sites at a decent level and ended the second half with a score of 15-15. The meeting moved into a series of overtime. Vitaltiy, who played on the defense side, cheerfully took 3 rounds and switched to the attack. G2 scored a comeback attempt, leading the meeting to 18-16, but Vitality put an end to this confrontation in the next round. At the same time, they brought to an end the performance of m0NESY and his teammates from G2.

Just like Cloud9, G2 Esports took 3rd-4th place in the standings. They will receive a cash reward of $60,000 and will no longer be able to compete for first place, the champion title and two invites to BLAST Premier World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.

We have one remaining match ahead of us with the participation of Team Liquid and Team Vitality. The teams will fight tomorrow at 16:00 UTC +0.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd on the island of Malta, and the Salini Resort site became the venue for the tournament. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North America and South America share a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000 and will also earn invites to BLAST Premier World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
