Team Liquid reached the grand finals of ESL Pro League Season 16

Team Liquid defeated Cloud9 with a score of 2:1, thanks to which they advanced to the grand final of ESL Pro League Season 16. Here, the North American team will meet the winner of the next semi-final. In turn, Cloud9 takes 3rd-4th place and earns $55,000.

The first semi-final of the championship started on the Inferno map, which became the choice of the North American team. But if the starting segment was left for the players of Team Liquid, then closer to the change of sides, Cloud9 managed to level the gap to a minimum — 8:7. In the second half, the Russian team still tried to impose a fight on the opponent, but failed. As a result, Team Liquid managed to quickly adapt to the opponent's attack, and at the same time took the lead in the series — 16:11.

Next, the teams moved to the map Ancient, which turned out to be the choice of Cloud9. At the same time, the first half was left for the North Americans, who played excellent defense and gave the opponent only four rounds - 11:4. However, after switching sides, Cloud9 managed to turn the game on its head to make a cool comeback and even the score in the series - 16:13.

Everything was decided on the Dust 2 map, the first half of which ended with a minimal advantage in favor of the North American team — 8:7. After switching sides, Cloud9 still tried to return to the fight, but to no avail. As a result, Team Liquid got the final victory and reached the grand final of the competition — 16:13.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North and South America compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
