Evil Geniuses gets the second victory in a row at ESL Pro League Season 16
/The Evil Geniuses team defeated Movistar Riders with a score of 2:0 in the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 16. Thanks to this victory, the North American team returned to the fight for reaching the playoffs of the competition. In turn, the Spaniards only finally lost their chances to break into the next stage of the championship, having suffered their fourth defeat.
The first confrontation of the fourth round started on the Overpass map, which became the choice of the North American team. At the same time, the start of the first half was left to the players of Evil Geniuses, who managed to make it to the side switch and secure a minimal advantage — 8:7. However, after the change of sides, the Spanish team completely switched off from the game. In turn, Evil Geniuses confidently reached the end, having managed to take the lead in the series — 16:9.
The teams then moved to the Nuke map, which turned out to be the choice of Movistar Riders. Here, the North Americans again showed an excellent start, having managed to finish the half in defense with a comfortable advantage - 9:6. It seemed that after the change of sides, the Spaniards would return to the game. However, in reality, Evil Geniuses seized the initiative, with which they confidently played in the attack and got the final victory in the series — 16:8.
In the final round of group D, the North American team will play with FURIA, while Movistar Riders will face Eternal Fire.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North and South America compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
