BLAST.tv Austin Major Playoffs Quarterfinals Schedule Review
Take the FaZe vs The MongolZ matchup. It’s a lot more ambiguous than it may seem at first glance. Of course, FaZe are a strong and, more importantly, highly experienced team with all the tools needed to beat the Mongolian squad. Our partner GGBET reflects this with odds of 1.74 for FaZe and 2.06 for MongolZ, showing a viewer preference leaning toward FaZe. However, The MongolZ have played through numerous LAN tournaments over the past year and have gotten used to the big stage. Individually, they’re also prepared to face top-tier opponents.

Major Quarterfinal Schedule: FaZe vs MongolZ Overview
The young Mongolian lineup handled Aurora and Liquid well, and even beat G2 twice, sending them home from the Austin Major. The MongolZ are one of the only teams in the playoffs capable of pushing back against their favored opponents and flipping the game on its head. That’s why this is arguably the most exciting quarterfinal match. The MongolZ have a real shot at winning, and I’d personally love to see them take down FaZe — but their opponent is locked in: s1mple, karrigan, and EliGE are here with one goal — to fight for the grand final — and losing is not an option. FaZe may have had a shaky start, but they found their form by the final matches and defeated the Mongolians in Stage 3.
The youth and discipline of the Mongolian side will likely allow them to take a map and make it a real contest, but not win the series. They’ve earned four bronze trophies and already lost 0-2 to FaZe earlier, which gave their opponents even more confidence. That experience they’ve gathered over the past two years, while valuable, may not yet be enough to maintain focus in the high-pressure environment of the Austin stage.
Fun fact: Håvard “rain” Nygaard is expected to show up wearing a cowboy hat — and that gesture might just win the crowd’s affection for FaZe.

What can we expect from NAVI?
From an analytical perspective and in terms of viewer sentiment, NAVI are clear underdogs. Bookmakers like GGBET are offering odds of 4.83 on Natus Vincere — a tempting chance for fans to take a risk, but realistically, their chances of winning barely reach 20%.
We’re cheering for NAVI with all our hearts, and seeing them pull off a double shocker would be pure joy: not only would it mark a massive step-up for the team, but it would also bring an early end to the tournament favorite’s run, eliminating Vitality as early as the quarterfinal stage.

BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Stage 1 & 2 Highlights
This is Counter-Strike — the game of the moment — and most teams are capable of surprising us, especially when it’s Legacy beating Vitality. However, even that has a certain logic to it. You could have seen it coming if you compared how fired up Legacy were after playing two LAN stages, while Vitality had only been practicing online at their bootcamp. They simply weren’t ready for the momentum the Brazilians brought. Still, no one believed in that upset, because on paper the European squad looked like the clear winners — five trophies in a row behind them speak for themselves.
Reminder: Legacy wasn’t even supposed to be at the Major in the first place — they lost their slot-deciding match to the Portuguese squad Bestia, who couldn’t resolve their visa issues and failed to attend the Austin Major 2025. As a result, the ultimate underdog of the tournament made it all the way from the Opening Stage to Stage 3, going 3-0 in Stage 2 and even taking down Vitality in one of the most surprising upsets. Despite falling short in the playoffs race after a 1-2 loss to MOUZ, it was an incredibly respectable run from the fiery Brazilian team.
As for lowlights, Falcons' absolute collapse stands out — the team exited in Stage 2 after consecutive losses to B8, Lynn Vision, and MIBR. Roster changes are now imminent. Aurora lost momentum during the group stage, and while MOUZ made the quarterfinals, their level of play looked far from that of a world #2.
Meanwhile, strong performances from Tier-2 teams like B8 and Lynn Vision were true step-ups. B8 not only beat the shaky Falcons, but also sent HEROIC packing — arguably a more telling statement.

What to expect from BLAST.tv Austin Major Quarterfinals
Overall, you can expect to see solid Counter-Strike from experienced players across the board.
As we approached the third stage, it became easier to identify the favorites, since the first two stages were filled with incredibly unpredictable results — but that’s normal for CS. However, in the Austin Major Playoffs, the situation is quite different. Here we see the strongest teams, constantly in the spotlight and under detailed analysis from the global CS community, making the matchups more straightforward to assess.
Here’s my prediction for the Austin Major playoff quarterfinals: FURIA will beat paiN, Spirit will absolutely demolish MOUZ, Vitality might drop a map to NAVI but will take the series, and while FaZe will have to work for it against The MongolZ, their victory is pretty much guaranteed. See you in the semi-finals!
