The Studio Behind It

Getting here wasn't easy. The studio laid off roughly half its staff in 2025, which forced a major rethink of the project's scope. Sundberg has said the cuts ended up making the game more focused, which is probably true — but it's still a rough road for any team to go through.

Story & Setting

Players take control of Samson McCray, a man who returns to Tyndalston — a grim, unforgiving city that shaped him and never forgave him. He's drowning in debt held by dangerous people, and they're using his sister as leverage. With law enforcement and gangsters both after him, his only way out is through anyone who stands in his way.

Tyndalston is described as the "asshole of the world" — a place built from desperation, industrial decay, and back-alley violence. The city is not static: it tracks Samson's actions, shifting how factions, civilians, and law enforcement respond to him. Nothing is forgiven, and nothing resets.

Gameplay & Key Features

The whole game is built around debt and pressure. Your debt grows daily with interest, so doing nothing isn't an option. Each job costs Action Points from a limited daily pool, which means you're constantly making tradeoffs you can't undo.

Combat is close and brutal. Instead of a weapon loadout, you grab whatever's nearby and use it. Car chases and vehicle combat are a big part of the game too — Sundberg's team made Mad Max, and it shows in how the cars are described: not transport, but tools for violence.

The main story runs about 10 hours. Full completion is closer to 25. No multiplayer, no microtransactions. Sundberg has been pretty direct that this is a lean, deliberate project, not something padded out to justify a higher price.

At $25, that's either a great deal or a bit of a gamble depending on how the final game lands. April 8th will tell.
