IEM Rio 2026: Schedule, Format, and Key Details

Starting April 13, another major CS2 tournament kicks off. Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2026 returns to Rio for the fourth time - the Farmasi Arena will once again become the meeting place for the world's 16 best teams and the most passionate CS audience on the planet. IEM Rio 2026: Format, Dates, and Prize Pool

The tournament will take place from April 13 to April 19, 2026, at the Farmasi Arena (for the playoff stage) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Group Stage (quota - 3 teams from each group advance to the playoffs). 16 teams are divided into two groups of eight. Each group is conducted in a Double Elimination format, where all matches are Best of 3. Group winners advance directly to the semifinals. Teams finishing second and third enter the quarterfinals.

After the group stage comes the Single Elimination playoffs, where a single loss means elimination. The culmination will be the Grand Final in a Bo5 format. Important: This year is the last time ESL will use this structure. From 2027, the organization will switch to an eight-team playoff format.

In total, 16 of the world's teams will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000. In addition to the money, another stake is on the line - participation in the race for the ESL Grand Slam worth $1,000,000.

Teams received invitations based on the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) as of January 5, 2026. Three additional spots were contested in the qualifiers: the winner and finalist of the Global Qualifier, as well as the winner of the American Qualifier.

The underdogs who could create a sensation include the Brazilian teams Legacy and RED Canids, who will receive maximum support from the stands. Also, do not write off the qualifiers - HOTU and Gentle Mates, who have nothing to lose and could become a source of unexpected results.
