FunPlus Phoenix advances to VCT 2022 Grand Finals: Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen

The FunPlus Phoenix team outplayed OpTic Gaming 3:1 and made it to the grand finals of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen. Here the European team will play with the representatives of Paper Rex, who made it to the final of the championship through the upper bracket. In turn, the North Americans from OpTic Gaming left the competition, taking third place and earning $85,000 + 500 points.

The final of the lower bracket started on the Split map, which became the choice of the North American team. However, FunPlus Phoenix literally did not notice the opponent's pick, confidently playing for defense. After switching sides, OpTic Gaming still tried to return to the game, but to no avail. As a result, the European team took the pick of the opponent and took the lead in the series — 13:6.

The teams then moved to the Icebox map, which became the choice of FunPlus Phoenix. But if the first half went in an equal fight, then after the change of sides the European team managed to seize the initiative, thereby increasing its advantage in the series — 13:8.

Next, the teams moved to the Bind map, which became the pick of OpTic Gaming. Here, the North Americans finally managed to take control of the game with a confident attack. Well, after the change of sides, OpTic Gaming managed to keep the advantage, thanks to which they reduced their backlog in the series — 13:6.

Everything was decided on the Fracture map, which again began with a failure for the North American team. The reason for this was the weak defense of OpTic Gaming, after which the team did not have time to wake up in the second half. In turn, FunPlus Phoenix confidently brought the matter to a victorious end, thanks to which it reached the grand final of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen — 13:7.

VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen takes place July 10-24 in Copenhagen in a mixed format. The first weeks of the championship will be held in a studio format, while the final three days will take place at the Forum venue. As part of the championship, twelve participants from Europe, the Americas, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia compete for a prize pool of $650,000, as well as ranking points needed to qualify for VALORANT Champions 2022.
