Gen.G Crush T1 at Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Day 4
The second match of the day brought us a true classic of the season — Gen.G vs T1. Both teams desperately needed this win, as no one wants to risk facing elimination with a 1-2 record.
Game 1 Picks:
- Gen.G: Sion, Xin Zhao, Orianna, Corki, Poppy
- T1: Ambessa, Wukong, Aurora, Kai`Sa, Alistar
The first thing worth noting is that Gen.G completely won the draft phase. Thanks to their composition, T1 couldn’t find any kills in the early game, and by the late game, it became nearly impossible to deal with Gen.G’s scaling. A tanky Sion, Poppy constantly disrupting plays, Xin Zhao’s control, Corki — a champion Ruler almost never loses on — and Orianna tying it all together created incredible synergy that was nearly unbeatable in the late game.
In the end, it was a dominant victory for Gen.G, who left T1 no chance to recover, building a 10k gold lead by the 24-minute mark. With this win, Gen.G move to a 2-1 record, putting them one step closer to the playoffs. As for T1, every match from now on could be their last, as they drop to 1-2.
Reminder: the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2025 runs from October 15–19 and 22–25. Sixteen teams play five rounds in a Swiss format: teams with 3 wins advance to the Knockout Stage, and teams with 3 losses are eliminated. Elimination and advancement matches are Best-of-Three with Fearless Draft. All other matches are Best-of-One, so every game matters.
Elimination and advancement matches are played in a Best-of-Three format with the Fearless Draft system, adding more strategy to the game. All other matches in the Swiss Stage are Best-of-One, so every round counts and one mistake can decide the outcome.
