The main events of the LPL, LCK and LEC of the past week!
lieAll over the world, the spring stage of League of Legends tournaments from their own developer Riot Games, together with local partners, is now taking place.
By the way, over the past week a number of tournaments have also started in minor regions, such as: LCL, LJL, PCS, VCS and others.
So far, only the group stage is going on, where the teams are trying to score as many points as possible. We will analyze only 4 main regions, the largest game servers.
A moment of important information: it’s not news that patches for esports tournaments come and change later than regular servers, but 12.2+ has already rolled on all splits - the same patch where they just released the new shooter hero Zeri.
What happened during the third week of the spring split? How have the leaderboards changed? In this digest I will try to answer these and other questions, read on!
LPL Spring 2022 - China
By tradition, we start with a split, which has almost twice as many professional teams as any other split. A place that claims to be one of the strongest esports regions and the birthplace of the reigning Worlds champions.
After a two-week break, the players were able to gather their courage and return to the battlefield with renewed vigor. Just yesterday, the fourth game week at LPL Spring 2022 ended, and the fifth one is already underway. Not surprising given the number of slots.
LNG Esports, Royal Never Give Up and EDward Gaming continue to show impeccable play. All three teams are fighting an extremely equal fight and occupy the top 3 of the standings. Nobody expected less from the favorites of the region.
Anyone'sLegend, all of a sudden, was able to gather strength after a pause during the group stage and defeated Ultra Prime with Rare Atom, which immediately raised the team to 10th place on the leaderboard. It's time to start playing seriously.
TeamWE lost to JD Gaming and EDward Gaming to zero, which set a new split record: 6 losses in a row. The inverse of LNG and RNG winstreaks. Perhaps the series of defeats will be even more. So far, the team has not won a single match, which makes them the main outsider.
LCK Spring 2022 - Korea
As before, we are moving from China to Korea. The second Asian region among the main ones and, probably, the first in terms of popularity of the esports discipline.
As in the case of the China split, Korean players also had the opportunity to take a break from the tournament stress for two weeks, take a breath and return to LCK Spring 2022 with fresh energy.
Here, just like in China, the fourth gaming week has ended, but two more days will pass before the start of the fifth.
"Are you sure you're on the T1 LoL team..?"
Perhaps, that is quite an appropriate description of the main events of the spring split from Korea at the moment.
It would seem that Faker, with a squad represented by the most popular League of Legends team, not only among the Korean community, should have become the standard for a long time, but they never cease to amaze.
T1 destroy this split. A series of victories in 8 matches in a row and only 4 lost maps. Gumayusi, the team's bot laner, who can't be removed from the MVP list for the entire tournament. Not only did the guys take 2 more games in their favor, they defeated their direct and “nominally only” opponent in the person of Gen.G Esports, who were promised the title of the main favorite and the strongest team this spring. But personally, I was confident in the power of T1.
DRX, after a poor season in 2021, are finishing the fourth week very strongly. Two victories against KT Rolster and Hanwha Life Esports, which equalized them with former champions from DAMWON Gaming. What's more, extremely experienced coach Kim "Ssong" Sang-soo is returning to the ranks of DRX today to become head coach, further strengthening the team.
NongshimRedForce, on the other hand, are losing twice, which brings them closer to the bottom half of the leaderboard. From a "neutral" score of 3-3, they slide down to 3-5, from where it will be difficult to comeback.
LEC Spring 2022 - Europe
We keep moving west. To the west of Korea there is the CIS, where the LCL Spring 2022 has just begun, but we will not review it so meticulously. And even further to the West from the CIS region... That's right, Europe with its Bo1 groups!
A lot of changes awaited the European pro scene of League of Legends this year. Just remember the situation with the sale of the slot, which is now occupied by Team BDS.
Unlike the regions of Asia, in Europe there was no separate pause between the game weeks, and therefore the fifth week of the group stage has already ended here.
Rogue lost for the first time in the entire split and not to some Fnatic or G2, but to the outsider of the tournament Astralis! And then again, only this time Misfits Gaming. Yes, it turned out to be an unsuccessful week for the top 1 team of LEC Spring 2022. Apparently, the players were simply out of shape, for what reasons - it is not completely known. However, even two defeats in a row did not dislodge Rouge from the first place. Perhaps such a "relaxed" week will give them more strength in the future.
Fnatic and G2Esports, diagonally opposite to their main rival, both get plus two wins in their piggy bank and with an equal score of 8-3 are already breathing down the back of the head of Rogue players.
Misfits Gaming also won twice this game week, but only finished in 4th place, still one win behind the top three and having one more loss.
