America's Main Event Begins: LCS Spring 2022

The main event of the professional League of Legends scene in North America is just starting now, almost a full two months behind Asia and Europe. LCS Spring 2022 starts tonight.

I want to remind you that the main split was preceded by the LCS Lock-In 2022 pre-season tournament, which ended a week ago with the victory of Team Liquid, who single-handedly took the entire prize pool of $150,000 USD.

Let me remind you that at the main stage the prize fund increased by only a quarter in total and amounts to $200,000 USD. This is almost the same as in Europe (€200,000 EUR), a third less than in Korea (≃ $312,319 USD) and more than three times less than in China (≃ $660,827 USD). In addition to money, the winner of the LCS Spring 2022 will also receive a slot in the Mid-Season Invitational 2022 from their region.

Tournament rules

The rules are exactly the same as on the LEC split from Europe, which I have already reviewed before. Let's remember.

So, according to the classics, we are waiting for the already familiar group stage. During this time, each team must play 18 matches. Let me remind you that all matches of the LCS group stage, as well as at the LEC, will be in the Bo1 format.

After the end of the group stage, according to the results of the points scored, the top 6 teams will be determined, which will go to the playoffs. Here we will watch all the matches already in the Bo5 format. The group stage will last from February 5 to May 27, eight in-game weeks. Each team will play four times in Bo1 format. According to the results of points from the group - the best six teams from the group will go to the playoffs, where all matches will be Bo5.
