First Stand 2026 Group Stage: G2 Esports Crush Team Secret Whales 3-0

The second match of the first group day at First Stand 2026 featured a confrontation between Team Secret Whales and G2 Esports.

The first map started very actively from both sides, with both teams trading effectively across different lanes. However, G2 Esports had a highly mobile and safe draft for this map, which allowed them to rotate quickly and survive in skirmishes. At one point, Secret Whales overplayed in the mid lane and dove too deep, giving away a lot of momentum. This allowed G2 Esports to start snowballing the match, confidently closing out their opponents without further trouble.

G2 Esports began the second map with counter-picks against TWS, selecting champions for every lane that directly countered Secret Whales' lineup. Despite this, TWS held their own in all three lanes, preventing G2 from pulling ahead early on. In the mid-game, the teams fought almost every minute, trying to swing the advantage in their favor. G2 Esports made a very smart decision to move for Baron, capitalizing on a poor positioning error by TWS. A won fight immediately led to a base siege and a 2-0 lead for G2.

TWS started the third map aggressively, securing a 4-0 kill lead across various lanes along with the first dragons. However, G2 wasn't particularly concerned, as their draft allowed them to scale into the late game and absorb mistakes. Eventually, by the mid-game, Secret Whales began facing major issues in teamfights, and G2 Esports showed no signs of stopping, only further increasing their lead. A Baron Nashor kill at the 25-minute mark ultimately ended the game for G2, securing a 3-0 sweep in the match.

G2 Esports advance to the Upper Bracket Final, where they will face Bilibili Gaming in a match for a playoff spot. Team Secret Whales drop to the Lower Bracket Semifinal to face FEARX in an elimination match.
