IEM Fall 2021 will be the last RMR tournament
ESL announced IEM Fall 2021, which will be the final tournament of the RMR series. It is already known that the championship will be held simultaneously in all six regions: Europe (24 teams), North America (12 teams), South America (4 teams), CIS (12 teams), Asia (4 teams) and Oceania (4 teams).
This announcement confirms the idea that only two RMR tournaments will be held in some regions, with the exception of the CIS and South America.
The details of the competition are interesting. For example, in the European region, the tournament will be held in a LAN format, while the venue is still a secret. As for the remaining regions, at the moment the organizers are planning to hold the championships online.
The open qualifiers for IEM Fall 2021 will start at the end of August and will last until September 10, after which the closed qualifiers will begin between September 12-16. The main tournament will run from September 29th to October 10th with a total prize pool of $ 255,000. In addition, 2,500 RMR Points will be awarded at each Regional Event.
As a result of IEM Fall 2021 changing status to a regional tournament, Renewal will no longer have a seat secured at the event following their victory at DreamHack Open June Asia. Instead, the tournament will follow the qualifying guidelines set by Valve, with half of the participating teams determined through the current RMR standings, while the remainder will be determined based on qualifications.
