The Mayor of Stockholm takes the side of the organizers of PGL Major Stockholm 2021

Representatives of the Swedish e-sports club NiP have published interesting information on their Twitter account. They told the esports community that the mayor of the Swedish capital Anna König Yerlmür addressed the Swedish government in an open letter, in which she urged them to give permission to organize and host the long-awaited Major CS: GO tournament in Stockholm.

Recently it became known that The International 10, which was also originally planned in Stockholm, will be moved to Bucharest, Romania. This happened due to the fact that the government refused to cooperate with Valve. While the community expected PGL Stockholm Major 2021 to be relocated to another country as well, there is renewed hope in the esports community.

Anna Koenig Yerlmuir herself mentioned the cancellation of The International 10 in Stockholm. She also recalled the fact that various e-sports championships were held in Stockholm several times, and the rate of vaccine administration to people is actively growing in the country.

PGL General Director Silviu Stroye said that in the process of negotiations with the Swedish authorities, some problems arose, due to which the holding of PGL Major Stockholm 2021 at the scheduled time is in jeopardy. The head of the NiP esports club, Hisham Shahin, invited the Swedish authorities to discuss the future of esports in the country over lunch.
