G2 go 1-1 after upset by 3DMAX and Dust2 recovery vs paiN
G2’s first day of Stage 3 at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 ended in a 1-1 record after a predictable 5-13 loss to 3DMAX on Nuke and a more controlled 13-6 victory over paiN on Dust2.
The opening map against 3DMAX exposed multiple structural issues on G2’s T side. After a close 5-7 half, G2 failed to post a single round in the second half. The French roster of 3DMAX completely locked out the map with consistent ramp control and fast rotates. Maka (17-8, 1.60 rating) and bodyy (17-12, 1.52 rating) spearheaded the win, while huNter- and malbsMd struggled to find impact for G2.
On Dust2, the narrative shifted. G2 came out aggressive with a 9-3 T side, led by Snax and HeavyGod. The veteran rifler ended with a 20-12 K-D and 93.9 ADR, while huNter- and hades both found redemption rounds after the Nuke collapse. paiN’s structure gave up mid control repeatedly, and their CT holds failed to recover after losing several post-plant scenarios.
MVP: Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski
Snax claimed MVP honors for G2’s win over paiN with 20 frags, 93.9 ADR, and 89.5% KAST. The Polish IGL provided stability and momentum on Dust2, anchoring the mid-rounds with experience.
Next match: G2 vs Aurora – 18:15 CET
G2 will play their 1-1 decider against Aurora. The Turkish team also sits at 1-1 after a win over FaZe and a loss to Furia.
