paiN Gaming Eliminates FURIA in Thrilling Quarterfinal at BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025
In a tense best-of-three series, paiN Gaming secured a hard-fought win over fellow Brazilians FURIA Esports, earning their place in the semifinals of the prestigious BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
The first map, Nuke, was completely controlled by FURIA. On paiN’s pick, they quickly took the upper hand and closed out the game 13–6. The standout player was Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, who dominated with the AWP and gave paiN no chance to find their rhythm.
However, paiN struck back on the second map, Anubis. A strong start on the T-side — building a 9–3 half — laid the foundation for a 13–8 win. Their coordination on executes and calm post-plant situations helped them level the series.
Inferno was a true thriller. FURIA jumped out to a commanding 7–1 lead on the CT side, showcasing solid aim and defensive setups. But paiN showed resilience, tying it up 8–8 and then pushing ahead to 12–8. FURIA fought back to force overtime, but paiN swept all OT rounds to take the map 16–12 and close out the series.
Lucas “nqz” Soares was named the MVP of the match, racking up 56 kills and an 81.8 ADR across three maps. His clutch rounds on Anubis and Inferno were crucial in turning the tide.
The win sends paiN to the semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of FaZe Clan vs The MongolZ. Given their current form and mental fortitude, paiN now look like serious contenders for a spot in the grand final.
As for FURIA, their tournament run ends here. They exit the event in the 5th–8th position, taking home approximately $45,000 in prize money. Despite the loss, the team showed solid form, and molodoy confirmed himself as one of the region’s most promising young talents.
