The second day, together with you, we are watching a small tournament from ESL Challenger, today is the last day of the group stage, and it went quite unexpectedly. Below we will tell you how the group stage of ESL Challenger at DreamHack Melbourne 2022 ended, and which of the teams turned out to be worthy of the playoff stage.

VERTEX – Grayhound Gaming

The first confrontation was quite one-sided, and passed completely under the control of Grayhound Gaming. On Vertigo, the Australian team started to dominate from the first rounds, and nothing changed after the switch of sides, the map ended with the victory of GhG with a score of 16-3.

Then the teams switched to Inferno, and the situation was similar to the first map. GhG players easily outplayed their opponents, which allowed them to finish the match with a score of 16-5.

OG - Wings Up

The second match would be the main surprise of the day, OG - the 8th team in the world rankings lost out to Wings Up - who are 67th in the same rankings.

The fight started on Inferno, and the first half of the match was played by the European roster, but after the switch of sides, nexa and the team seemed to relax, which ended in defeat for them (13-16).

The second map was Ancient, and in the first half of the match the teams went toe to toe. After the side switch, something happened again with OG, and the match ended with the victory of Wings Up (16-13).

Grayhound Gaming- Imperial

The last match was no less interesting, the confrontation began on Inferno, and the score was almost equal 8-7 for the first half of the game. After switching sides, Imperial simply choked the opponents, losing only 1 round, and closed the map with a score of 16-8.

Then the teams switched to Nuke, and there was already a real struggle, both contenders understood that a place in the playoffs was at stake, and they tried to squeeze out the maximum. But in the end, the Brazilians from Imperial proved to be stronger and finished the match with a score of 16-12.

As a result of the match, Grayhound Gaming and OG leave the tournament, while Imperial and Wings Up go to the playoffs, where they will fight for the main cash prize and the champion title.
