In just a few hours, the first meeting of the ESL Pro League Season 16 group stage will begin. Over the next month, the best teams on the world stage will compete for a prize pool of $835,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023. that the championship is preparing for us and share our impressions of the favorites in each group.

Group A (August 31 - September 4)

NAVI is considered the main favorite of the first group, which is unlikely to be disputed by anyone. Vitality and Ninjas in Pajamas will also fight the "Born to Win" company in the fight for reaching the playoffs. It is interesting to watch the Team Spirit team, which has been attracting attention from the outside since the time of the Major. In turn, there is every right to think that fnatic and Endpoint will not cope with the pressure of competitors and will not be able to get involved in the fight for the TOP-3.

Group B (September 7-11)

It seems that in group B the main struggle will unfold between the FaZe Clan, G2 Esports and BIG teams. Certain problems for leaders can be delivered by the Outsiders team, but only on occasion. As for MIBR and FTW, these teams look like obvious outsiders who are unlikely to be able to contribute in terms of the distribution of berths to the playoffs.

Group C (14-18 September)

Perhaps the most equal group in which the intrigue will be alive until the last round. Here we see two Danish giants - Heroic and Astralis. At the same time, we should not forget about the updated ENCE roster, which will definitely fight for their points. You can not write off MOUZ, which once again went for rejuvenation and introduced another native of her academy. The French from HEET, who have a balanced line-up and have been striving for TIER-1 for a long time, can also cause trouble for the leaders of the group. The only exception is the Complexity team, which, against the background of its rivals, can pack its bags in advance.

Group D (September 21-25)

There are enough surprises in group D. Firstly, here we can see Team Liquid, which, with the arrival of YEKINDAR, began to play too confidently. Secondly, we must not forget about Cloud9, which will certainly be ready to return in the new season and not fall into the dirt on its face. It is also interesting to watch the Brazilians from FURIA, who invariably get into the playoffs of major tournaments. Things are a little worse for Evil Geniuses, Eternal Fire and Movistar Riders, who are unlikely to fight for the playoffs, but risk taking a few points away from the favorites.

ESL Pro League Season 16 will be held from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams will compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
