PGL presented the format for the upcoming PGL Major Stockholm 2021. As it was done earlier, the championship will be divided into three stages, according to the results of which all teams that will compete for $ 2,000,000 will be determined.

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will kick off with the New Challengers Stage from October 26-29. 16 teams will fight according to the Swiss system up to 3 victories. All matches, except the last ones, will be played in BO1 format. In turn, matches for entering the New Legends Stage, or leaving the championship, will be held in the BO3 format.

8 teams from Europe, 3 from the CIS, 2 from North America and one team each from South America, Oceania and Asia will take part in the New Challengers Stage.

Following the results of the New Challengers Stage, eight teams will advance to the New Legends Stage, joining the best seeded teams. The New Legends Stage format will remain the same - all matches, except the last ones, will be played in BO1 format.

After that, the play-off grid will be formed, where each match will be held in the BO3 format.

Note that each of the main stages will take place over four days, with the New Challengers Stage and New Legends Stage being played out without spectators at the Annexet sports facility, while the playoffs will be held at Avicii Arena.

As part of Valve's plan to reduce the impact of major tournaments on the calendar and to properly schedule each stage in four days, two rounds will be played on the first day.
