Tournament and organizers
ELEAGUE are one of the best-known organizers of the tournaments equal to such names as DreamHack, ESL, Beyond The Summit and others. This year we have been lucky to observe a major championship from ELEAGUE in this eSports discipline. At the beginning of the year the Major tournament of one million dollars where the players of the North American team Cloud9 got the win. In total, 23 collectives participated in the tournament, and the elimination was held by a new system. The championship was divided into three parts: Challengers Stage, Legends Stage and Champions Stage. The main money reward consisted of $500,000.
The upcoming ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018 will have the same prize pool as ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018, but the holding system will be simpler and the tournament will have some distinct features. The number of the participants who will share the prize pool will be equal to eight teams. There was no preliminary elimination round while all the collectives participating in the championship got direct invitations from the organizers. ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier 2018 will be held in two stages: group stage and playoff.
Holding system
The group stage will be held in the GSL system. The participants will be divided into two groups where they will play 5 matches. The collectives having the statistics of 2-0 and 2-1, will get to the final stage. Two worst teams of each group will leave the tournament and get consolation prizes.
Only four participants will get to the playoff stage and will play three matches: two semifinals and the Grand final.
All the matches of the group stage will be held in the Bo3 format. At usual tournaments the first matches are held in the Bo1 format. The meeting of the semifinal will also take place by the Bo3 system, while the final match happening on 29 July at 18:00 UTC +0, will be held in the series up to three wins.
