LEC Versus 2026: MKOI Secure Confident Victory Over G2 Esports

The final match of the day took place between G2 Esports and MKOI. Both teams showed strong results last year and both participated in Worlds 2025. Strictly looking at the numbers, these are essentially two of the strongest teams in the league. Let’s see how the match unfolded.

At the start of the match, G2 looked decent, but their play seemed plagued by miscommunication. They attempted 3v5 initiations that were destined to fail, while the team's carries sometimes weren't even looking toward the fight. Meanwhile, MKOI increased their lead with every kill, securing objectives and structures.

MKOI played very coolly and with great discipline. They secured every dragon, including the Elder, leaving G2 with no chance for a comeback. It was also very noticeable that they have slightly altered their playstyle. Last season, they would rush into a fight at every opportunity; if it worked, they won, but a couple of mistakes would cost them the entire game.

A first and confident victory for MKOI, and a rather weak performance from G2. However, as we know, G2 rarely plays at their maximum during the regular season, so we look forward to seeing them in the playoffs.

This year, the LEC Versus 2026 does not provide a cash prize for winning the tournament. Instead, teams are competing for the opportunity to qualify for the international tournament, First Stand 2026. The Regular Season will be held in a Bo1 format where every team faces each other. In total, teams will play 11 matches each, and those with the best results will advance to the playoffs.
