LEC Versus 2026: Karmine Corp Blue Spoil GIANTX’s Seeding with Upset Win
The next match featured Karmine Corp Blue vs GIANTX. For both teams, this match was largely meaningless, as KCB has no chance of making the playoffs, while GIANTX has already qualified. The only implication for GIANTX is that a victory could help secure a better seed, whereas a defeat would help other teams qualify for the playoffs.
Game 1 Picks:
- GIANTX: Sion, Jarven IV Azir, KaiSa, Nautilus
- Karmine Corp Blue: Rumble, Aatrox, Taliyah, Yunara, Rell
First Blood occurred in the mid lane thanks to an excellent Azir ultimate under the tower that Taliyah couldn't flash to dodge. Knowing the mid laner had no flash, Jarvan IV came out to help secure the FB. However, in the trade, Karmine Corp Blue managed to secure the first Earth Dragon.
By the 15th minute, the game had livened up; teams began moving actively and finding pick-offs to maintain map control. In the fight for the Herald, GIANTX finally found an opportunity to solidify their lead by getting 3 kills on KCB's support, jungler, and top laner. This grew their advantage to a 3,000 gold lead and secured the Herald.
At the 20-minute mark, KCB found a winning fight at Baron, allowing them to get back into the game with 4 kills and the Baron buff. This completely evened out the gold. Almost immediately after, a fight broke out for the Infernal Soul point; despite a 2-for-2 trade in champions, Karmine Corp Blue managed to secure this crucial objective.
The game-ending fight took place at Baron. GIANTX almost secured it, but excellent zoning and a Baron steal by Aatrox buried all their hopes. An Ace by Karmine Corp Blue followed, and the Nexus was destroyed within a minute. The victory meant nothing for KCB's standings, but it pushes NAVI to second place in the LEC Versus 2026 Regular Season.
This year, the LEC Versus 2026 does not provide a cash prize for winning the tournament. Instead, teams are competing for the opportunity to qualify for the international tournament, First Stand 2026. The Regular Season will be held in a Bo1 format where every team faces each other. In total, teams will play 11 matches each, and those with the best results will advance to the playoffs.
