MKOI Defeat Fnatic and Eliminate Them From Worlds 2025
Today marked the first elimination matches of Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Day 5. The opening series featured two LEC teams — MKOI vs Fnatic. The match was played in a Bo3 format, with the losing team being eliminated from the tournament.
Game 1 Picks:
- MKOI: Sion, Qiyana, Ryze, Zeri, Rakan
- Fnatic: Ambessa, Pantheon, Cassiopeia, Xayah, Rakan
Game 2 Picks:
- MKOI: KSante, Wukong, Kassadin, Sivir, Bard
- Fnatic: Rumble, Jarvan IV, Victor, Kai`Sa, Poppy
Game 3 Picks:
- MKOI: Ornn, Xin Zhao, Taliyah, Vayne, Braum
- Fnatic: Jax, Trundle, Azir, Ezreal, Rell
The teams traded maps, with Fnatic standing no chance in the first game, and MKOI unable to respond in the second. It’s also worth noting that in Game 2, Fnatic drafted two of the lowest-performing champions at Worlds 2025 — Jarvan IV and Kai’Sa. Jarvan IV had a record of 0-9, though many players still pointed out that the champion remains strong and worth picking.
The series then moved to a decisive third map. After MKOI picked Vayne, Fnatic clearly understood they had to shut her down early — but unfortunately, they failed to do so, and their ganks only helped Vayne scale faster. In the final game, Fnatic made numerous mistakes, often being out of position both before and during teamfights. These errors ultimately cost them the series.
After this intense match, MKOI remain in a dangerous position with a 1-2 record. To reach the Knockout Stage, they’ll need to win two more Bo3 series — and their upcoming opponents are extremely strong, so the road ahead won’t be easy. As for Fnatic, their Worlds 2025 journey ends here, as they exit the tournament without a single win.
Reminder: the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2025 runs from October 15–19 and 22–25.
