LPL Summer 2022: digest for 13.06
lieWarm greetings to all eSports lovers! In this article, I will collect all the most basic and interesting information about the results of today's continental league and, accordingly, League of Legends Summer Split 2022. And if you didn't have time to watch the games yourself, this is a good opportunity to learn about the details quickly and in detail!
Summer, like any other splits, traditionally opened China instead of with its LPL Summer 2022. This is due to the fact that China is much larger than other regions in terms of the number of teams, as many as 17, when the standard is 10. And, accordingly, the group stage should be carried out faster.
The first competitive week of the summer split is over. And although it was really short, it brought us some unexpected results. But in the realities of the tight LPL schedule, the teams don't have much time for rest and breaks, and therefore they continued to earn points today.
For this day, as before, only two matches awaited us, but what a match! First, Invictus Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix met each other with a score of 2:0, and a little later, two strong teams Weibo Gaming and Edward Gaming with a score of 0:2. Two "perfect" matches that ended in two maps. Both in favor of the underdog and the favorite. The cards were interesting, more on them later.
What was in today's games?
In the first match, to be honest, no one really expected anything from the guys from Invictus Gaming. And they took and literally strangled the phoenixes in both games. Let me remind you that since the spring split, where their performance was mediocre, they have not changed the line-up at all. Yes, earlier they took one card from Weibo Gaming, but then there was more a question about the dubious pick of WBG themselves. But today, watching both games performed by iG, I was genuinely happy with what they show. A bunch of jungler Xun and mid laner Yuekai did their job so well that the community started spamming right after the game that "Xun and Yuekai are smurfing games." Control of the map and objects was at the highest level, FPX yielded to them literally in everything.
The second match was no less spectacular. With stronger and stronger lineups, where the EDward Gaming bot lane decided to actually show why they are called the “champion bot”. Not to say that the games went completely in one direction, as earlier in the day. There were times when EDG made mistakes and got paid for this economic and facility comeback by the WBG. But even so, there was a complete feeling that they had everything under control. Throughout both maps, Viper on his Ezreal demonstrated the pinnacle of the game on this champion and, according to multiple comments from commentators, "hit enemy champions like a truck." In the first game, he did get 100% participation in murders. Not surprisingly, he was the MVP twice and eventually received the MVP of the day. After the match, EDward Gaming had a short interview with the whole team, where there were many interesting moments, but Viper had the following to say:
Q: Are there any secrets to playing Ezreal?
Viper: You just have to hit all Qs or you're useless.
Top and uncommon picks and bans
The top champions in terms of the number of drafts remain the same: the Fallen King strongly dominates, but the stable Nautilus and Swain, who has come out of the bans, are unexpectedly added.
Champion | Number of games | Winrate |
viego | 16 | 43.8% |
Wukong | ten | 60% |
Ezreal | ten | fifty% |
swine | eight | fifty% |
Nautilus | eight | 37.5% |
Bans don't really surprise anyone either. Gwen is in first place with a margin, although she has a very mediocre win rate, no one wants to play against her. They began to ban Senna more often in order to avoid a connection with Tahm Kench.
Champion | Number of bans | Winrate |
Gwen | 16 | 25% |
Lucian | 13 | 42.9% |
Calista | eleven | 66.7% |
Senna | ten | fifty% |
Waist | ten | fifty% |
But of the interesting peaks today we saw two points. The first was Yuekai 's mid lane Sett. He was a good matchup against the Swain we were starting to see so often and paired well with Diana in the woods, which worked out great.
The second most interesting and unexpected pick was Anivia on the top lane! Anive to the top line by TheShy from Weibo Gaming. It was an obvious attempt to counter the meta build on Vladimir, however, which turned out to be a complete failure. After all, EDG understood this and simply changed Vladimir's interrupter ability from Ghost to Flash. Scout even commented on this:
Q: Did you expect Anivia's top lane pick from TheShy at all?
Scout: We couldn't imagine that at all. I think this is how they tried to counter Vladimir and his meta build, so we immediately told Flandre to take Flash.
Flandre: Even if I played in the pro scene for another ten years, I would never expect such a peak.
