The results of DreamHack Showdown Valencia 2019
Ihor MatusThe teams, which have surprised
Demise Female
This roster hadn’t stood out with some special performance before and it hadn’t been popular. Despite this, Demise Female managed to beat two strongest representatives of Group A: CPH Flames Female and Dignitas Female. Due to this, Demise advanced to the playoffs first and their second match, in which they defeated Dignitas Female with a score 25-23, was very interesting.
In the semi-final, they were not able to show something against CLG Red, which is one of the strongest in the female segment of CS:GO. Having placed 3rd-4th, Demise earned a money prize in the sum of $10,000.
The teams, which have performed worse than expected
CPH Flames Female
Candy, vilga and their other teammates proved a couple of times that they are one of the strongest female teams on the professional CS:GO scene. Due to this, the expectations related to the roster were a bit too high and, considering their group included Orange.Sphynx and Demise Female, many people were sure about their advancement to the playoffs from Group B. They lost the first match with Demise Female and achieved victory in the match with Orange.Sphynx. They were not able to beat the opponents in the decisive match against Dignitas Female and CPH Flames Female placed 5th-6th at the tournament. They earned a money reward in the sum of $3,000 for the way made at the tournament.
The participants, which performed as expected
Orange.Sphynx and 7PM.fe
Orange.Sphynx and 7PM.fe are the little-known teams, which have passed qualifiers in the weakest division, Asia. Due to the rosters were not noticed at large tournaments and their gaming skill left much more to be desired, their 7th-8th places are just what the viewers expected. The teams earned money prizes in the sum of $2,000 for their efforts, made to get to the playoffs.
FOREVER21
The reason for not very high expectations from FOREVER 21, in which famous klaudia, masq, and missharvey play, is that bENITA was playing instead of misperceived. misperceived had visa issues. F21 lost to Counter Logic Gaming Red twice and managed to beat 7PM Female but it was not enough to make it to the playoffs. FOREVER 21 received $3,000 for the 5th-6th place.
Dignitas Female
The 3rd-4th place was a good result for Dignitas Female because CAth left the roster at the beginning of May who joined CLG Red and Dignitas.fe became the four. Theia was a stand-in in the team and she helped the team to enter the top four. This result brought the team Dignitas Female a money prize in the sum of $10,000.
Counter Logic Gaming Red
CLG Red is undoubtedly one of the strongest female rosters in the world of CS:GO and they were the favorites both in their group and at the tournament in general. In Group B, they beat FOREVER 21 but lost the second match to Beşiktaş Esports. They prevailed over FOREVER 21 in the decisive match again and advanced to the playoffs. There, they defeated Demise Female and made it to the grand final where the representatives of Beşiktaş Esports were waiting for them. The players from CLG Red were not able to win a rematch. The silver medalists earned enough solid money prize in the sum of $20,000. Many expected Counter Logic Gaming Red to win but, considering the level of Beşiktaş, such a result is also acceptable for Red.
Beşiktaş Esports
The representatives of Beşiktaş Esports became the winners of DreamHack Valencia Showdown 2019. Juliano and zAAz have been playing together since January 2016 and, being on the roster of Team Secret, proved that it’s worth to reckon with them. However, a big part of viewers thought that CLG Red will achieve victory in the final match but Beşiktaş’s didn’t become a big surprise. The team got in Group B where fought with 7PM.fe and CLG Red. The victory over the first ones, which, by the way, was pretty easy, because 7PM Female won only 3 rounds. Having advanced to the playoffs, Juliano with her teammates dealt with Dignitas Female without efforts, after which didn’t allow Counter Logic Gaming Red to win a rematch in the final. Beşiktaş Esports earned the main money prize in the sum of $50,000 for the job done.
